Benefits of Shades in Window Treatment

While redecorating a complete room can be an overwhelming task, starting from the windows can be a good start place to start. A window without proper coverings or treatment can make the complete room feel cold and incomplete. A window treatment is a lot more than just a window covering and you can enhance the look and functionality of your windows either by using only one type of coverings or combining it with outer styles to get the desired result.
Not all windows need highly polished coverings; even properly installed shades can serve the purpose working as the simplest and most effective window treatment for saving energy. To avail greater efficiency, go for dual shades - the lighter one (preferably white) shade on one side and the darker one (preferably black) on the other side. You can reverse these shades as per the requirement. The reflective side should always be towards outside and the absorbing side should be towards inside during the winters to avoid the inner warmth going outside. Likewise, the absorbing side should be towards outside and the reflective side should be towards inside during the summers. You need to keep them drawn all day to make them more effective.
